A Deferred Exam
By Anonymous
I once did a module based on the writings by a specific author, and by the end of the course I still hadn’t read a single book by them. I revised for the exam as much as I could, but had to defer it until August for personal reasons. I later realised I should have used my time over the summer to do the readings. The exam went alright, though it brought down my overall grade for the module.
I think I could have done a lot better had I used my time more productively. However, I admit that the events that made me defer the exam majorly affected my productivity. Realising the impact of external factors on my performance helped me not to be discouraged by the lower grade. I improved my grades later, mostly by doing the readings.
